Grapes: Cannonau 40%, Carignano 30%, Bovale 30%

Vineyards and training method: Vineyard of Tanca S'Arai (Serdiana), traditional alberello and low espalier.

Age of the vineyard: Ranging from 40 to 67 years, depending on the varietal.

Yield: 70/80 quintals/hectare.

Soil Type: Medium hill, clayey, calcareous, rich in texture.

Vinification, Maturatioin, Ageing: Each varietal is vinified separately, after the pressing of the grapes follows the maceration at controlled temperature with the addition of selected yeasts, that lasts 8 -10 days according to the varietal. After the maceration, the fermentation continues in stainless steel vats at controlled temperature of about 20° C. Following, light clarifications are carried out. The wine is then let to rest for a few days before the assembly of the obtained products in variable percentages form year to year. Once assembled, the refinement goes on for about one month in underground cement tanks and then continues in new French oak barriques of 225 litres for approximately 8/10 months. Then the wine is bottled to finish refinement in 3/4 months.

Tasting: Deep, intense ruby red colour with light garnet reflections, very clear. Intense persistent aroma with prevailing notes of mature fruit with light almond taste. Dry and soft with a good structure, smooth and enveloping.

Matching and service: Game birds, roast and braised meats, mature non-spicy cheeses. Serve at 18/20° C, uncorking one hour before pouring, or in a decanter.

PALA, Wine Life

Wine Life is our family, our life, our vines and our wines. Wine Life is our tradition, our history our land and the wine terroir. Wine Life is you and all the moments that you share with one of our wines with the people you love. A moment of Life, Wine Life. Pala.

Pala, a wine family since 1950

The Azienda Agricola Pala (or Pala estate) was founded in Sardinia, Italy, in 1950.

Mario Pala is now the third generation of the family taking care of the vines of his family with the help of his wife Rita and the fourth generation of the family represented by his sons Massimiliano, Elisabetta and Mariantonietta.

From father to son since 1950 there's the most important ingredients that the Pala family has always added to terroir, tradition, respect fro the environment: the passion to make wines that are able to express the family character and the terroir of this extraordinary island.

Tales from Sardinia, Terroir, Culture, tales from the Pala Family

The story of the Pala family is also the history of the wine in Sardinia. The history of the island with its, its vineyards, its ancient people...
Sardinia is one of the oldest emerged lands in the Mediterranean area ... geographically is part of the French massif, while the rest of the Italian peninsula belongs to the African bloc .... Eratosthenes was used to describe Sardinia as the world's largest island and this is the impression that you get circumnavigating Sardinia as its coasts are jagged. Yet Sardinia is really a micro continent. A land where the farthest point from the sea is only sixty miles and where you can find a concentration of stunning landscapes and a nature of its own. Snowy mountains. The longest canyon in Europe to the only desert of the continent, fertile plains and limestone hills overlooking the sea as the ones where you will see Pala's vineyards

Pala's Vineyards

Pala vineyards are divided in eight different single ones. Some of them are really close to the cellar, some other one are far. Different terroirs, the best exposure, and the best soil type are adapted to the different grape varieties. Form the town of Serdiana, where Pala has its cellar and where the limestone in a rolling hill area is common to the municipalities of Ussana and Senorbì with again limeston and marnes. The farest ones are in the municipalities of Uras, Terralba and San Nicolò d'Arcidano in the central western coast of the island, this vineyards are planted in white sands..
